JOIN THE BALTIMORE READS VOLUNTEER TEAM!
From sorting and shelving free books for children to helping during events, providing administrative support in the office or even tutoring students---there is a volunteer position for everyone at Baltimore Reads!
The Baltimore Reads' volunteer program offers opportunities to uplift and improve our community, help make a positive difference in a person’s life, promote family literacy, engage in community service, gain work experience and meet new colleagues with shared interests. Volunteering is also a great resume booster.
The Baltimore Reads' volunteer program provides volunteers with a position title, job description and performance standards. After serving with Baltimore Reads, we are often able to provide volunteers with a letter of recommendation.
Academic or Administrative Volunteers:
You can serve as a tutor, teacher’s assistant, ESL conversation partner, in another academic/ instructional volunteer position or administrative support position. We hope you will consider a long-term volunteer commitment, committing to a minimum of three hours per week from the hire date until the end of the academic session.
Book Bank Volunteers:
Most Book Bank volunteering opportunities occur on Saturdays at the Baltimore Reads' Book Bank where teachers and families flock for free children’s books.
Baltimore Reads Event Crew:
We participate in many city festivals and neighborhood or community fairs such as Artscape, Baltimore Book Festival and Grade "A" Night at the National Aquarium. You may volunteer just once or time and again as your schedule allows.
