The Ripken Society

The Ripken Society at Baltimore Reads was launched in the Fall of 2000 to celebrate our twelfth year of service to Baltimore area families. The Ripken Society was created to honor Cal and Kelly Ripken's invaluable contributions to Baltimore Reads. The Society invites members of the community to contribute an annual gift at the level of $1,000 and above, and honors those donors with special recognition and regular communications about important issues.

An important initiative to increase the level of individual giving, this annual fund provides Baltimore Reads with an additional flexible revenue base to complement our already-in-place restricted public funds.

Why Join?

By becoming a Ripken Society Member you are helping to secure our future by developing a robust and ongoing funding base that is independent of normal grant restrictions.  Gifts generated by The Ripken Society provide ongoing support of our family learning programs and help us develop a stronger technology component to all our programs.

Ripken Society Members enjoy the following benefits:

Prominent recognition on the Baltimore Reads Hall of Fame wall
Invitations to celebration events
Invitations to educational forums, conferences, and seminars
VIP tours of schools and other community-based programs in action

Levels of Giving

The Ripken Society targets the Baltimore Reads Board of Directors, Baltimore leadership, and community friends for individual gifts at the following levels:

Founders Circle - $10,000 and above
Hall of Fame Circle - $5,000-$9,999
Home Run Circle - $2,500-$4,999
