The Ripken Adult Learning and Workforce Development Center

Educational Assistance

Housed in a convenient downtown location, the Ripken Learning Center is our educational facility where more than 325 registered students attend day and evening classes. From non-readers to those seeking their GED, Baltimore Reads’ trained staff provides personalized instruction for all literacy levels. Baltimore Reads works in collaboration with many other organizations throughout the Baltimore area in advancing literacy, which include YO! Baltimore.

Bridge to the Workforce Program

In the Bridge to the Workforce Program participants receive employment training through a series of classes that prepare them for the working world. The training classes include: job search skills, completing an application, resume writing, interviewing techniques and performance on the job.

Baltimore Reads Book Bank

Since 1992, Baltimore Reads has been providing new and gently used children's books to the community. Over 1,000,000 books have been distributed to schools and disadvantaged families throughout the Baltimore area.  Books are collected from the community at large and through our annual Books for Kids Day book drive held during the first week of May.  Books also can be dropped off throughout the year at our user-friendly warehouse (the Book Bank), located at the Baltimore Sun complex.

The Book Bank is open by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment, please call 410-783-1479.
